There's lots of tips about what you need to know about hiring a Pro Make-up artist - it could save you a lot of time, heartache and money!

Also, to tip you off about a Mother's day competition I will be running shortly.  As you are subscribed to my emails you get to know about this first.  If you would like to nominate someone to win a Make-up lesson with me, (whether it be for your friend, Mum, Grandmother or neighbour even), please email me on tina@tinabrocklebank.co.uk with details of why you would like to do so and why you think they should win.  (Please note, this will not be done on Mother's day, but at a mutually convenient time.  Once announced the lesson needs to be done within 3 months of winning.  This is non-transferrable to any other service, i.e, wedding make-up.)  Deadline for entries is the 31st of March.

I often save images that inspire me and then obsess about them for a while!  I had always wanted to try some Mark Traynor Invisitapes, as these elongate the eye and have been a theatrical beauty secret for yonks! Plus drag queens wear them and I do love a good drag make-up.

The tapes you attach either side of your face (and/or neck) and it gives you a facelift! 😳

I used LOADS of makeup and I felt like Lily Savage but it was great!  Now before you go judging me, you know I am one to promote natural beauty and make-up.  This was done purely for fun and for the love of make-up and art!  

Absolutely no re-touching here or Face Tune.  The make-up took me about 3 hours to complete, but I loved doing it! (a nightmare to remove though! it probably took about 3 hours to get rid of it all!)

I love applying the basics of Art here using light, medium and dark to shade or highlight. I also used white on the lips to create a shine effect, (another tip stolen from Hollywood/drag!)

Merry Christmas and a Happy new year!

Its beginning to look a lot like Christmas! I hope you are all winding down a bit, ready for the Christmas break?!  I have a few bookings this week for make-up lessons to do and then a wedding this weekend at Hemswell court, and then that is me done this year!  Back to work on the 2nd of January 2019! and then my first wedding is at the end of January 2019!

Limited availability for weddings for 2019 and taking bookings for 2020!

Just to remind those of you that may not have taken advantage of the £30 off promotion and wanted to:-  The offer ends at the end of this week, the 21st of December, that is the last day that the discount will be applied, (so a lesson will be £120.)  After that the price will go back to the usual price of £150 for a makeup lesson.  Please contact me if you would like to book in, (full payment would be required), or if you would like to purchase a Gift voucher.  The last date to send out would be the 21st of December though.

Make-up artist shenanigans...

Thank you to all who have signed up for e-mails.  I have been very busy booking some of you in for the discounted make-up lessons, and also doing the lessons too.

Don't forget these need to be booked in before the 21st of December, and as long as they are done before the 29th of March 2019, that is fine, as then I will be busy with wedding make-up and trials.

As this has been so successful, there is now very limited availability for this promotion, so when they are gone they are gone and lessons will go back to the original price of £150!  I also offer Gift vouchers too, so will make a lovely gift, and these have been hugely popular too.  For those of you who have contacted me to say you would like to book in but haven't paid yet, just to remind you, I cannot hold any appointments without the deposit, so if I haven't got this, then I am afraid the appointment suggested will not be honoured and be given to someone else.

Just to update you on what I have been getting up to - I have been keeping busy with a lot of make-up lessons and quite a few weddings still too, I have even got wedding bookings right up to December, so I have still been doing lots of make-up trials and then obviously I do these 3 months before the actual wedding day, so for Spring weddings I have been doing a few too.

I recently had the pleasure of meeting the lovely Samantha on her make-up lesson, and I showed her a variety of looks, (this is not the "standard" lesson by the way.)

I will show the other looks on my before and after page!  I was inspired by one of my favourite make-up books by Keyvn Aucoin, The art of make-up.

I tend to keep my day make-up quick, classic and natural.  I do try out lots of new products, and mix them up throughout the year, according to my skin, how I feel, time I have and where I am going!

Rosie wanted a natural, classic look for her wedding day, which is of course, my signature look.  She was a pleasure to work with and very easy going.

As she was wearing white, this indicated that a brighter pop of colour is required on the face, otherwise, she would look washed out in the photos.

The lip colour here is by Charlotte Tilbury, Hollywood lips in Sweetheart and then I layered Liv it up on the top.

Eyes were softly defined with some beautiful, natural false eyelashes.

Cleatham hall is a wonderful venue and I loved working there!

This means they can then apply for a £30 discount for a make-up lesson! (usually priced at £150, so the lesson in total will be £120.)  This is for a limited period of time only and I only have a limited number of lessons I can offer for this promotion, so when they are gone, they are gone!

You can still subscribe to be eligible, but this offer will end on the 21st of December 2018.  Should you have a problem subscribing, please just fill in an enquiry form via my website, (under Contact me) or email me – tina@tinabrocklebank.co.uk with all of the details below –

Name, telephone number, address, a brief description of what makeup lesson you are after, (e.g, day makeup) and roughly when you would like the lesson, (don’t worry if you don’t know at this stage.)  I will send you my bank details to pay via BACS.

Once I have checked you have subscribed, you can then go on to pay your £120, (please remember to use your name as reference.)  I will email you to confirm.

Please note, this cannot be used towards any other service such as special occasion makeup or Bridal/wedding makeup.

Once you have paid, then you will need to contact me to arrange your lesson, this needs to be booked in before the 21st of December 2018.  This means the lesson has to be done no later than the 29th of March 2019.

If someone you know has been harping on about a lesson with me, then this is the time to buy it! (especially with Christmas only 4 months away, can you believe that!?)  If you would like this as a present, then I can send out one of my make-up lesson vouchers so they have it in time for then.

I have provided hundreds of lessons for ladies over the years, of all ages and ethniticies, teenagers to ladies in their 90’s. I love helping people to not only look their best, but feel their best.

A 1 hour bespoke make-up lesson with me at my studio includes the following –

The lesson begins with a chat about what exactly you require from the session and what kind of makeup look you are after.  I can then adapt the lesson to your requirements and needs.  Your photo is then taken, (usually with your own make-up on).  Tina then discusses skincare and will advise on the best skincare for you and your make-up.  Skin prep is so important!

I then go through each step, from foundation to lipstick.  It is a really fun session and you can ask as many questions as you like throughout the lesson.

At the end of the lesson, your photo will be taken again with your make-up applied by me. You will also be given a personalised face chart and product list so you can go online and order anything you like that I have recommended or used.

I will then email you your before and after photograph together with your make-up procedure so you can practise your make-up at home.  (*Please note, there is no pressure to have your photo on social media and I respect your wishes if you decide not.)

There is limited availability for appointments and once these places have gone, they are gone! so get in touch to avoid disappointment.

I had the pleasure recently of working with the gorgeous Katie, for her wedding in Lincolnshire.

Make-up wise, Katie prefers a very natural look and I didn't want to distract the attention away from those amazing flowers!

Light foundation was applied and a spot of powder, eyes were kept very light with a tiny bit of definition and some very small false lashes.

A tiny flush of cream blush and then the spot on lip colour from Bobbi Brown to compliment the whole look, Art stick in Sunset orange.  Underneath I applied an Aqua lip pencil from Make-up Forever in 17 c.  No gloss for a modern look.

I think you will agree, Katie looks incredible and I can't wait to see rest of the official photos!
