November - Journal article (Foundations), by Tina Brocklebank Make-up artist.

I am really enjoying writing my columns for the Journal magazine.  Laura Stuart-Cooke has breathed new life into this glossy, high-end Lincolnshire magazine and it is jam-packed full of great articles, including Charlotte Hays' regular columns too.  Charlotte is a Lincolnshire-based stylist and is set to launch new brand Stella&Alf with designer Paris Hodson.  The Stella&Alf capsule collection - which will be made of natural fabrics in a neutral colour palette - will be available to buy online from www.stellaandalf.co.uk in early 2013.

In my November column, I talk about the struggles of finding the right foundation for a lot of women, how to find the right one for you, different types and also what my faves are. Please feel free to contact me if you would like me to cover anything in my columns, make-up wise - enquiries@tinabrocklebank.co.uk
I have also been on the look-out for a suitable model, as I am going to be doing a promo-video for my website so if you know anyone please get in touch.  Models must be over 16, have great skin and ideally have some modelling experience, however, it is not compulsory.  This will be shot at the end of November 2013.
I have had such a busy 2012 with lots of bookings for 2013 (and 2014!), so please get in touch soon to check availability/ if you would like me to do your make-up for you!
My next column for December for the Journal will be about easily transforming your day look into an evening look, ready for the party season.
Becca shimmering skin perfector

Becca shimmering skin perfector

Becca shimmering skin perfector - I have been a huge fan of this wonder product for a very long time.  I have just purchased the new shade "Moonstone" and used to have "Opal."  As my skin is naturally fair I personally prefer to add warmth to my skin and I find that Opal is actually better for this, Moonstone is infact a mixture of Pearl and Opal.  I still love this product and love the packaging too, which comes with a great little pump which dispenses a small amount of product in your hand, which is all you need.  This product smells great too and not only does it give a lovely pearlised, soft glow it has the added benefit of having a SPF 25. You can mix with your normal foundation if you wish or you can just add to the areas of your face which you want a bit of a sheen/highlight, which is very youthful and flattering, creating a lovely glow using light reflecting particles.  I purchased my product from www.gorgeousshop.co.uk and was priced £26.40 for 50 ml.  I will continue to use this product!

Bobbi Brown - Long-wear even finish foundation

Bobbi Brown Long-wear even finish foundation.

Bobbi Brown Long-wear even finish foundations £30 (30 ml), - As you may know I am a HUGE Bobbi Brown fan! I have just recently updated my kit (again!) with these foundations.  I get through lots of bottles of foundation, and I do find that this foundation is the best as in ease of application, (you must prep the skin well and moisturise beforehand.)  texture of the product and shades, also how long it lasts, as it promises 12 hours!  Obviously, a product is going to last alot better if you prepare your skin and apply in light layers.  I also recommend using a small amount of loose powder, just to ensure it lasts too.  This is great as it gives the skin a lovely natural looking base and is light-weight.  However, as this product is oil-free, I wouldn't recommend using it if you have dry skin.  This product does exactly what it promises to do and is a staple in my make-up kit, great for Brides and also a great product for everyday wear.  I like to apply this with a damp sponge and then blend in with my fingers or a Real Techniques buffing brush.

Smokey eyes, 60's inspired...

This was from a photoshoot which I did recently with the lovely Charlotte Hay from Stella and Alf.  We went for a grungy/60's inspired look.  For make-up I first applied a primer to keep the make-up on then added a vitamin enriched face base by Bobbi Brown.  I then applied their new Long-wear even finish foundation in Porcelain and concealed underneath the eye area, then set with some loose powder.  Next I defined the eyebrows using a Louise Young angled brush and Bobbi Brown eyeshadow.  I then used a Long-wear cream eyeshadow and then applied a charcoal eyeshadow and encouraged creasing by applying vaseline over, I then elongated the eye by smudging out to create that lovely feline look, taking this underneath the eye too, using lots of gel liner and mascara too.  I opted out of using blush and just contoured the cheeks with a little bronzer.  I then finished by applying a Porcelain concealer over the lips to create a matte finish.  Photo by Ellis Wood.  Hair by Becki Robinson.

Bride – Joanne Birtwhistle. Joanne wanted a natural make-up but wanted to define her beautiful eyes. Therefore, I used Bobbi Brown foundation, concealor and powder then defined her eyebrows. I then used Bobbi Brown eyeshadows and then applyed Shu Uemura false eyelashes. I finished by adding a pop of blush to her cheeks with shimmer brick on her cheekbones, I then applied a pale pink lip colour and pencil with a sheer lip gloss.

Facebook Competition

I recently created competition on Facebook, where one person would receive a make-over from me and have her photo taken by Tracy Conway-Smith. The winner was Emma K Shardlow from Caistor. Emma was chuffed to win and she loved the results! I used Bobbi Brown make-up which included the new Party paint eyeshadows which I recently purchased.
