The Wedding Journal 2013.

Enquiries have been coming in thick and fast and I am very busy at the moment with wedding make-up trials, for Brides, bridesmaids and Mother of the Brides, etc!  I am also very busy with teenage make-up lessons, (however, I only recommend make-up on teenage girls from the age of 16.)  I feel that any younger is not appropriate.  Even the 16 year old girls really need minimal make-up.  Its strange isn't it, we want to look older when we are young then young when we are old!!
Easter was a very busy time for me - I did a lovely wedding in Woodhall Spa and stayed at the beautiful Petwood hotel.  The Bride was getting married at The Dower house hotel, a very beautiful place.  I had 7 ladies make-ups to do...so timings were of the essence!  However, I have managed to do 10 ladies make-ups before in one sitting...so it can be done!
This weekend takes me to the beautiful Wood hall spa and hotel in Wetherby for 5 ladies, I love getting to see all these beautiful old buildings and it is an  honour sharing someones' special day with them.
I have also finally got round to ordering a new personalised make-up chair for my make-up studio...I have wanted one for years!  I will post up a photo soon!  I have also been ordering lots of new make-up for my clients to try from Daniel Sandler, Illamasqua, Shu Uemura and my fave - Bobbi Brown!!  I also love using Louise Young - the smokey eye palette is amazing!
I am also looking forward to doing a day course soon for a make-up artist who has trained with Pixiwoo, she is coming all the way from Suffolk to train with me, and I am looking forward to helping her out and showing her a few tricks of the trade!
Anyway, please feel free to e-mail me with any questions - as you know, I love raving on about make-up!

(P.S I am still taking bookings for 2014, but limited availability.  Please contact me and I will check to see if I am available for your wedding date/occasion!)
Bobbi Brown pro lip palette, etc

Make-up addict!

Busy week, doing demos at the Grimsby Institute and doing make-up trials too.  I decided to buy the Bobbi Brown Pro Lip palette, (aswell as a few other essentials) for my make-up kit.  This palette is awesome.  Its got a range of 54 shades in it, ranging from very nude/natural to more pinky tones and then more dramatic reds/browns.  I can't wait to use it.  I am also loving using the new Illamasqua masquara in Raven, it is smudge-proof and water resistant (you can cry but you can't swim!), so essential for my Brides.  The photo below is of a make-up test I did for the demo, its lovely I can go back to my creative roots and play around a bit with make-up, and the students are very enthusiastic so it helps.  I am also going to be judging the make-up competition at the college at the end of the month, so I can't wait to see all of the different looks.   I am also getting round to ordering some Daniel Sandler products in to try, so will keep you posted!x

The Journal, Tinas' makeup column - Creating the perfect canvas...(March 2013.)

I also admire and am inspired by lots of other make-up artists - Sam and Nic Chapman, (Pixiwoo), Lisa Eldridge, Charlotte Tilbury, Rae Morris, Kevyn Aucoin, Alex Box, Polly Osmond (whom I used to go to to college with in London,) Clayre Hemmings, (who I went to college with too, and is an awesome make-up artist.)
I will soon be teaching a new Media make-up course at the Grimsby Institute, which starts in September, which I am very proud to be involved in.  We will be using Illamasqua make-up, (Alex Box is the Creative Director of this brand...and is actually from Grimsby.)  It seems Grimsby has some very creative individuals!  For more information contact Janice Yardley at Grimsby Institute, (Janice will be providing the teaching for the hair part of the course.)
I also created a competition on Facebook to win a make-up session with me.  This attracted hundreds of applicants and some lovely comments and feedback.  It is always nice to hear how people appreciate me and my work...it has taken me long enough!  A lovely lady called Mrs Niblett won and came for a make-up session today, (23rd of Feb.)  I only run these competitions about once a year so keep your eyes peeled! February 2013 make-up column in the Journal by Tina Brocklebank Make-up artist.

When ladies book a make-up session with me, more often than not, most ladies are very concerned about their looks.  They feel under constant pressure to look good, however, most ladies struggle with where to start with make-up and skincare.  This is where I can help them with my 24 years of experience.   But to quote Bobbi Brown, "All it takes is the right tools, products and a bit of knowledge."

Most ladies haven't a clue about make-up, afterall, we haven't been taught at school have we, how to make the best of ourselves! That is something instilled into us from a young age either from our parents or siblings, or maybe as we get older we take an interest in enhancing our appearance, however, sometimes we are advised wrongly, hence those tell-tale marks around the jawline from the wrong foundation shades or too much eye make-up or incorrect lip colour.
I have lots of bookings for this year and 2014 already and also a few new projects up my sleeve too so watch this space!  Meanwhile, if you do fancy booking in for a make-up lesson feel free to contact me and I will be happy to assist you.  I am also running a competition on Facebook, where you can win a make-up  lesson with me, you need to join the event and also comment on my page to be in with a chance of winning.  Good luck, Tina x
nubo white diamond ice glow mask

NuBo White Diamond Ice-glow mask

I was kindly sent some samples from NuBo and was impressed with what I discovered about the brand (being described as "Pro-beauty high-tech skincare).
This particular product has had rave reviews by beauty editors, so I was intrigued to say the least.
The packaging is very expensive looking with the diamond encrusted lid, however, for £100 (!) this does need to look the business I feel!
I have very dry skin so using something moisturizing is a must.  The cream looked and felt creamy and smelt pleasant, but not too perfumed. First I steamed my face to ensure my pores were open.  I applied a thin layer over my face, but thicker on my neck, (avoiding my eye area - this would become apparent why...!)I left it on for 10 minutes and almost immediately it felt very cold with a numbing sensation, which was wierd but not unpleasant.  I had previously heard about the benefits of using this mask - "Release frown lines/wrinkles, plump the skin, refresh and revitalise, promote a glowing complexion and ease signs of tiredness."  After 10 minutes I rinsed it off with warm water.  The results were not amazing...however, I did feel pampered! and my skin was left soft, a little more plumped and radiant.  The cooling sensations did last for a while after too.  To be honest, I do feel £100 is very steep for a face mask, however, you do get a generous amount in the pot and used regularly, maybe once a week, you would begin to see the effects more.  I will continue to use it so watch this space! thanks for reading x
